This event is unusual for us to post, but with the recent passing of Gene Wilder it seemed appropriate.
The Burbank International Film Festival is showing Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory on Saturday, September 10th at 1:00 PM at the Burbank AMC 16 Theater. This year is the 45th Anniversary of the film, and the festival had already planned on screening it, but with the film’s star passing away so recently there will probably be an even bigger turnout at this showing.
Tickets are $10.00 each, plus a $1.00 fee on the festival’s ticketing website. However, if you’re a big fan of the film and show up dressed as one of the characters from the movie you will get in for free! There will also be special prizes for best costume and one fan will win a special “Golden Ticket” prize. It’s a unique experience for fans of the film, that only comes around once in awhile.
You can visit the film festival website for other screening information. There aren’t any free screenings except in this special circumstance. But if you’re a film buff, you might be willing to spend about $15 to see some unique shorts and meet the filmmakers.
