An event with a funny name, the Whale Fiesta is celebrating its 47th year at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. The family event is free and open to the public, to celebrate marine life and the beginning of the Pacific Gray Whale migration season.

Aquarium’s Exploration Center, Aquatic Nursery and the Library will be open to visitors 10 AM to 5 PM (but the fiesta event officially ends at 3 PM), free to explore. There will be scientists and volunteers on-hand to provide information about the marine life we live so close to. There will also be free activities such as face painting and a Great Duct Tape Whale Contest.

The fiesta is this Sunday, January 29, 2017. Visit their website for more details.
