LA Art Book Fair


Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is hosting their 5th annual LA Art Book Fair from February 23 to 26, 2017. This unique event gives artists displays books, art catalogs, zines, and more for three and a half days, giving artists a chance to share their work. This event is free and open to the public.

If you want a special experience, you can purchase VIP tickets ($10 each) for a preview on February 23rd that includes access to the displays and a special musical performance.

Public hours for the display:

  • Friday, February 24, 2017: 1 PM to 7 PM
  • Saturday, February 25, 2017: 11 AM to 7 PM
  • Sunday, February 26, 2017: 11 AM to 6 PM

Union Station Tango Party


You can spend your Valentine’ Day learning a dance of love! Free tango lessons will be offered at Union Station on February 14, 2017, followed by social dancing (milonga). Music will be provided by a live orchestra – Tangótico, led by Matias Piegari. Carlos Barrionuevo and Mayte Valdes will also dance for the audience.

Museum Free-for-All Day


Sunday, January 29, 2017 will be a great day for art lovers, history enthusiasts, or anyone wanting to explore some hidden gems in Los Angeles. Several museums throughout LA County (and a couple in Orange County as well) will be offering free admission for everyone.

Some of the biggest museums and art galleries in Los Angeles are participating, including LACMA, the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, The Getty, and the Annenberg Space for Photography. Many more are participating as well, in this 12th Annual event.

Some museums require a timed ticket, so please visit the official website to plan ahead before you go, and find visiting hours for your chosen museum.

DTLA Art Walk


The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk is a nonprofit that organizes monthly art walks in LA. They are scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of each month, year-round, rain or shine.

If you decide to join in the event, start at the Art Walk Lounge (634 S. Spring St.), the visitor center for the Art Walk. Visitors can pick up maps, view and purchase art from local and international artists, support artisans through the Art Mart, and sample promo items from our sponsors. The Art Walk Lounge is open from 6-10 PM.

Santa Monica Binge Free Festival


Santa Monica is hosting it’s first Fringe Fest, running from October 17th to October 30, 2016. Productions will cover a wide variety of topics from all genres, from comedy to drama and fairytale.

Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance by calling the box office at 310-394-9779 Ext 1. Or email the playhouse at (when emailing be sure to leave your full name, contact number, and number of seats you’d like to reserve).

Village Venture Arts & Crafts Faire


The 35th Annual Village Venture Arts & Crafts Faire will be in Claremont on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 9 AM to 5 PM. The event is so large, they have organized free shuttle service to alleviate parking trouble.

Browse the streets filled with art and vendors and enjoy a children’s Halloween costume parade at 9:30 AM.

Admission to the event is free. There will be crafts and food for sale on site. Check out their event page for more details.

Grand Ave: All Access



On Saturday, October 29, 2016 there will be free activities and showcases throughout downtown Los Angeles, on Grand Avenue between Temple and 6th Street. From 10 AM to 5 PM the public is invited to explore places like Ahmanson Theatre, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Broad, MOCA, and more.

People are encouraged to use the Metro Red and Purple lines to travel downtown. Over 10,000 people attended last year’s event so parking can be a challenge. Better to take the Metro, and walk around downtown on foot.

Downey Dia de los Muertos Festival


City of Downey presents their Dia de los Muertos Art Festival on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Event goes from 11 AM to 8 PM. Admission and parking are both free.

There will be live music and dance performances, face painting, sculpture art, and a Dia de los Muertos art gallery. Located at the Downey Civic Theatre Plaza, in Downey, California.
