Santa Clarita – Classic Car Show

Visit the longest running classic car show in the Santa Clarita Valley, at the Route 66 Classic Grill. Admission is free to view cars and listen to the live music. Food, drinks, or raffle tickets would cost extra.

Car shows are the second Saturday of every month, May through October, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Palmdale Family Movie Nights

The Palmdale Amphitheater is showing family friendly movies Friday nights this summer.

  • July 29th – Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • August 5th – Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • August 12th – Minions

Tickets must be purchased at the amphitheater ticket booth on the day of each movie. Box Office Hours: 6-8:30 pm, day of show only.

Admission $4, children age 12 and under admitted free. Cash only.

Arrive early to enjoy free children’s activities for kids age 2-12 years, 6-8 pm, or while supplies last. Costumes and impromptu dance parties and parades are encouraged.

Celebrate Downtown Lancaster

The City of Lancaster is offering several free events throughout the fall and winter seasons. Planned events include motorcycle shows, musical entertainment, and a go-kart race through the streets of Lancaster. They also have family events planned for the Halloween and Christmas holidays. Mark your calendars now.

Summer Night Lights

Summer Night Lights is a program from Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office, and the GRYD Foundation, to provide family-friendly sports, food, and activities in Los Angeles for free during the summer.

Last year, SNL attendance was about 780 people per park, per night and almost half a million meals were served. LA Laker Girls held dance classes. There were also free Zumba classes, art workshops, health screenings, and sports clinics featuring the LA Kings and LA Galaxy.

This year 32 sites throughout Los Angeles will participate, keeping recreation centers and parks open between the hours of 7 pm – 11 pm throughout the summer months.

National Night Out

1National Night Out, which began in 1984 is an annual event to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts.

Neighborhood Watch Groups, in coordination with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department as well as City officials and staff, will hold evening events in neighborhoods throughout LA County. Events will vary by location but may include block parties, barbecues, live entertainment, movies, dancing, and more.

National Night Out is August 2, 2016. Times may vary by location.

South Bay – Shark Lecture

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach presents guest speaker, Dr. Andy Nosal, to discuss the Leopard shark on Tuesday, August 9th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Every summer, hundreds of harmless leopard sharks gather in shallow water off La Jolla Shores Beach. These local legends have awed swimmers, snorkelers, and kayakers for decades, but no one knew why they gathered at this particular spot.

Tickets are $5 for the public to attend in person, or there is a free live stream available.
